  1. Very nice set up you have there Marcus… i’m envious!! so much space. Wouldn’t be your basement by any chance?? mind that pipe in the ceiling too…. wouldn’t want to crack that… ;o). My parents live in Spain and they have the same sort of thing… dad backed his car into it…PHEW!!!

Just a tip….What is the firmware version on the printer? (1.02 ?) i’m still setting up my business and i’m only switching the printer on a couple of times a week at the moment. Damn thing was doing a clean cycle every time and filling the maintence tank by 20%… since I upgraded to 1.20 all it does now is a nozzle check and only cleans if it needs it. Thought I was going to go through a Maintenance Tank every 2 weeks!!!

  2. Thanks for the tip Chris.

I updated all the software as soon as I installed it (force of habit for everything ), but the people over here from Canon never even mentioned it. I guess from there point of view it’s better for people like us to go through the consumables quicker with the old firmware.

Good guess with the basement. It is 120 m2, so was perfect for setting up the workshop in. Now we are just looking for a retail unit to use as a gallery of our own.

We sell to shops direct and do commercial printing too.

So what made you get into this and where are you going with the business?

Love to here more from you.

  3. I am just the money man in a partnership with my son. He is a graphic designer and photographer who has big ideas, but has holes in his pockets!. We hopefully will be aiming at the Fine Art/Gallery market and producing canvas and fine art. Hopefully our site will be live by the end of the week. We have managed to get a couple of artists on board selling their art through us so it’s all looking up.

    Good luck with your venture.

  4. OK, some time gone already with your ipf8000… 🙂

What you can say about scratch resistance on glossy media and waterproof resistance of Lucia inks? From your personal experience, of course… 🙂

  5. Hi Valdas,

Well I have no problems with scratching at all when using photo media. I have been using Kodak’s Photo Gloss, Photo Satin, Premium Gloss and Premium Lustre and all produce stunning, hard wearing images.

I have been using an art seal on the canvases as they were prone to scratching.

Can really comment on the water resistance yet as haven’t had an application in which to have tried.

It is 40c and super dry here in Tenerife… not much chance of rain soon!

    Hope this helps.

    Marcus
